At the time of Christ’s advent, prevailed two lifestyles
One of legalism and other of licentiousness
Those of legalism in rigid discipline inflicted needless pain upon their fleshly vesture
While the licentious ones’ sought fulfillment in acts of pleasure
Ruthless Stoicism or the mechanical observance of the Jewish Law
Was not always without flaw
As it never gave inner peace or joy to those following it
Rather it made them realize the futility of human grit
Beyond a point, sensuous acts of pleasure were exposed for what they are
For men the peace that stems from clean conscience flew away afar
Men groping for inner fulfillment wondered as to what more they needed to do
After satisfying fully the desire of the human libido
At that time came Christ promising liberty
Both from Legalism and Licentious ontology
He declared that His yoke is light and easy to bear
For those who bear it, there shall be no despair
The taste of the pudding is in the eating
For millions who made His Words a way of living
There has been such fulfillment, peace and unalloyed joy
That neither Legalism nor Licentiousness could ever supply
Peace, joy and inner rapture
Come only on setting right the relationship with the Saviour
One needs to confess his or her sins
And invite the Saviour to take-over life’s reins
I invite you to taste for yourself the Living Christ
By praying to Him to come into your heart
His hands are ever ready to set free
Anyone trapped haplessly in the clutches of Stoic or Epicurean philosophy
