CATCHY SAYINGS FOR THE MONTH

Now for some spiritual snacking......

Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand.

Refusing to forgive someone is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

I learned that life is not just a destination but a journey. While the expedition can be long and arduous, it can be full of beauty and pleasure as well.

God might want you to extend his love by offering to baby-sit for the single parent down the street. He might want you to prepare a hearty meal for that lonely old man who lost his wife — and to sit and visit with him while he eats. Who knows, he might even want you to reach out and touch the life of a total stranger in some way you can't imagine right now. Are you willing to set aside your own comfort to touch someone else with God's love?

A passion to obey Christ is born out of our relationship with him. The more we love him, the more we want him to be a part of our affairs.

Where there is much prayer, there will be much of the Spirit; where there is much of the Spirit, there will be ever-increasing prayer.

No vital Christianity is possible unless at least three aspects of it are developed. These are the inner life of devotion, the outer life of service, and the intellectual life of rationality.

What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints?

Satan never sells his poisons naked — he always gilds them before he vends them.

The natural response to denials of Satan's existence is to ask, who then runs his business?

For you who wonder if you've played too long to change, take courage from Jacob's legacy. No man is too bad for God. To transform a riverboat gambler into a man of faith would be no easy task. But for God, it was all in a night's work.

God's wounds cure, sin's kisses kill.

I am of certain convinced that the greatest heroes are those who do their duty in the daily grind of domestic affairs whilst the world whirls as a maddening dreidel.

God denies a Christian nothing, but with a design to give him something better.

Wise men are not always silent, but they know when to be.

In the New Testament it is the work and not the workers that is glorified.

Grace is indeed needed to turn a man into a saint, and he who doubts it does not know what a saint or a man is.

It is possible to be so active in the service of Christ as to forget to love him.

Jesus had a future dream. His dream was that one day every creature in heaven and earth would bow and give honor to God the Father. ... He came into this world with this dream inside of Him. He felt it, craved it, and became so consumed by it that He willingly gave up His life on the cross in order for it to come to pass.

Don't put people down, unless it's on your prayer list.

WHAT God did makes sense. It makes sense that Jesus would be our sacrifice because a sacrifice was needed to justify man's presence before God. ... However, WHY God did it is absolutely absurd. When one leaves the method and examines the motive, the carefully stacked blocks of logic begin to tumble. That type of love isn't logical; it can't be neatly outlined in a sermon or explained in a term paper. ... It IS inexplicable. It doesn't have a drop of logic nor a thread of rationality. And yet, it is that very irrationality that gives the gospel its greatest defense. For only God could love like that.

A bold Christian is the highest style of a man.

We either add to the darkness of indifference ... or we light a candle to see by.

To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.

All the graces of a Christian spring from the death of self.

Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope. ... The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without purpose.

Christians are not men and women who are hoping for salvation, but those who have experienced it.

Pride is the utter poverty of soul disguised as riches, imaginary light where in fact there is darkness.

Saints not only desire to love and speak truth with their lips, but they seek to be true within; they will not lie even in the closet of their hearts, for God is there to listen; they scorn double meanings, evasions, equivocations, white lies, flatteries, and deceptions.

Genuine spiritual knowledge lies not in wonderful and mysterious thoughts but in actual spiritual experience through union of the believer's life with truth. When a truth is unfolded by God it most naturally becomes a power in man, who then finds himself able to believe.

Where I found truth, there found I my God, who is the truth itself.

In fact, 15 percent of everything Christ said relates to this topic (money and possessions) – more than His teachings on heaven and hell combined. Why did Jesus put such an emphasis on money and possessions? Because there’s a fundamental connection between our spiritual lives and how we think about and handle money. We may try to divorce our faith and our finances, but God sees them as inseparable.

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.

God doesn’t want to visit, He wants to move in.

Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.
