In more than three decades of my Christian life, I have been blest by 2 types of Daily devos'
(matter not exceeding 500 words) in universal Christian literature.
Not only those Devos' which have a different theme everyday but also the ones
which revolve around a certain theme over a period of time, say a fortnight have
richly edified me. In fact, both styles have their own inherent advantages.
If the former style caters to the varying spiritual needs of a christian from day-to-day,
the latter aims 'to ground' a child of God in a certain subject in order he derives the full
benefits of the deep insightful study of a certain topic, spread over a fixed span of time.
In my Daily devo page, I have consciously tried to go in for 'a blend of both the styles'
whereby within a constant theme, I would be aiming to focus on different facets of it which admittedly
is a closer imitation of the 'Constant theme' style than the 'Varying topics' one.
For starters in the first month of January I would be dwelling on the theme of the
"Christian Journey", with the material being arranged in a Book-like format under which the pages
would be opened ( i,e..displayed on-line) on each succeeding day.
So here's wishing you a happy & an edifying read....

THE PRESENCE OF GOD
He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire all night-Psalm 78:14

Even as we continue to meditate on the many similarities between the ‘redeemed lot’
(from slavery in Egypt) & the Christians, lets ponder awhile on the subject of God’s presence.
|
|
The captioned scripture portion above bears out the fact that God’s presence
was very conspicuous amongst the ‘delivered lot’. Besides the very able God-ordained leadership
comprising of Moses and Aaron, the very presence of God by way of a ‘pillar of cloud by day & pillar of
fire’ by night doubtless, ought to have been a great source of encouragement & inspiration to the
‘delivered lot’.
Now are we Christians comparing ourselves with our Jewish
counterparts, going to ‘complain’ that, we are being deprived of such a kind of awesome experience?
NO! Praise God that if God’s presence was with the emancipated lot during their wilderness sojourn
then God’s presence is ‘WITHIN US’ in our Heavenward journey
(John 14:15-18). Not only God’s Spirit
within us, a constant source of joy & peace in our Heaven bound voyage but also it is a guiding
force ‘teaching’ us, all we need to know
(I John 2:27) in our ‘walk with Him’. What more, God’s
comforting spirit indwelling us, whilst giving us a foretaste of Heaven is also a promise that
we will receive everything God has for us. God's Spirit will be with us until God finishes His
work of making us complete
(Ephesians 1:14). HALLELUJAH!

Prayer:
Father, how privileged we are that our bodies are actually Your temple to indwell us. May we
always live conscious of this profound truth, even as we praise Thee for leading us every step of
the way in our homeward journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
