In more than three decades of my Christian life, I have been blest by 2 types of Daily devos'
(matter not exceeding 500 words) in universal Christian literature. Not only those Devos'
which have a different theme everyday but also the ones which revolve around a certain
theme over a period of time, say a fortnight, have richly edified me. In fact, both
styles have their own inherent advantages. If the former style caters to the varying
spiritual needs of a christian from day-to-day, the latter aims 'to ground'
a child of God in a certain subject in order he derives the full benefits of the
deep insightful study of a certain topic, spread over a fixed span of time.
In my Daily devo page, I have consciously tried to go in for 'a blend of both the
styles' whereby within a constant theme, I would be aiming to focus on different
facets of it which admittedly is a closer imitation of the 'Constant theme' style
than the 'Varying topics' one.
As the month of December coincides with the Christmas season, in this month I intend to
dwell exclusively on all the topics revolving around Christmas using the visit of the
Wise man described in Matthew 2 as the base.
Let me wish you a happy and an edifying read… oh yes-MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF US!

Apostates- The Spiritual tricksters
I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their
way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to
live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long
ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. -Jude 1:4
In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander
celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with
the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous
accusation against him, but said, The Lord rebuke you! – Jude 1:8-9

Apostles and Apostates! Similar sounding words but functionally in God’s perspective,
they couldn’t be more far apart! If the apostles draw people towards God, the latter
draw people away from Him, by their subtle teaching, which almost seems correct but in
fact is destructive to one’s soul.
Take for instance, their teaching that all is fair in a Christians life on account of
God’s grace or their Satan bashing rhetoric. The simple-minded, new believer’s would fall
for their teachings which prima-facie may sound acceptable to God. But a closer look at
their teachings would reveal, they are misusing God’s grace to the extent of licensing
acts of immorality. Similarly, their Satan bashing tactics, would draw a huge crowd for
on the surface it would appear to be in conformity with God’s will but such an action
lacking in Scriptural backing is heretical, for the Bible says that even Michael the arch angel,
did not use derogatory language against Satan. Kindly note, God alone reserves the right to
condemn the adversary and what even the obedient angels of God are not allowed to do, what
makes us think, we can get away doing the same
(II Peter 2:10-12)?
In the context of the above, Christians are well advised to steer clear of both
immorality in God’s name and Satan bashing which these Spiritual tricksters’ proclaim,
without even as much of shivering.
Tomorrow, let’s focus upon what pleases God most on a CHRISTMAS DAY!
Prayer:
Father in heaven; grant us wisdom to discern and follow only those leaders’
whom You have ordained. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
